2019 PGSL Spring Rec Ball Registration

Welcome

Welcome to the 2019 PGSL Spring Rec Ball Registration with the Poway Girls Softball League.

This registration will allow you to provide contact information, sign consents and submit payment. Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card information available. Please note that the price will increase on January 1st, 2019, by $10 for 6U and by $20 for all other divisions.
We will field teams at each of these divisions: 6U, Rookies (8U), Division 1 (10U), Division 2 (12U), and Division 3 (14U) depending on interest. Your daughter's birth year determines what division she'll be in as shown below:
      * 6U: (TK-2012)
* 8U/Rookies: (2010-2011)
   * 10U/Div 1: (2008-2009)
   * 12U/Div 2: (2006-2007)
   * 14U/Div 3: (2004-2005)

Note from the President

Can you believe it, it's that time again to lace up those cleats and knock the dirt off your gloves.  The board has been working weekends and late hours to prepare for a great season!

A few logistics for everyone:

  • This is a volunteer league and with that we are always looking for a hand to ensure our girls get the best possible experience.

  • Coaches:  We are always looking for experienced and non-experienced potential new coaches.  Training is provided for those of you who are interested, but have no experience.  You can indicate your interest on the registration form and one of our Division Directors will contact you.

  • Fields: We, as a league, maintain the Aubrey Park fields ourselves.  Our fields director does a great job but could use a few helping hands.  We are forming a field committee and need a few more members.  Please contact Mark Moncey at fields@pgsl.org if you are interested.

  • Evaluation dates are scheduled for Saturday Jan 5th, 2019 (makeups are Sunday Jan 6th) at Aubrey Park (specific division times are TBD).

  • Sign-ups after evaluation date will be placed on a team if space is available. When you sign up, reach out to friends and encourage them to come out and play!

  • Opening Day is scheduled for Saturday Feb 9th, 2019

  • Keep an eye out for several fundraising events throughout the season. You won't want to miss out!

  • Clinics have already started in preparation for a great 2019 season.  Please keep an eye on your email for information.

  • And last but just as important, make sure to like us on Facebook!

Family Discount

If you are registering more than one player in your family this season, you will receive a $5 discount on the second (and third, if applicable) child's registration fee.  In order for the registration system to recognize that your family is registering multiple players, please register all of your players at this time.  On the Review Page, there is a link near the bottom to "Register Another Player" - please click on this link to ensure that all of your family's players are registered within the same transaction.  Failure to do so will result in a forfeiture of your family's discounted rates.

Volunteers Needed!

PGSL is run entirely by volunteers.  Each season, we look to add to our incredible group of involved parents.  There are many ways for you to participate and help improve your daughter's experience in the league.  Besides the PGSL Board positions, the below list shows the many ways you can get involved.  For more details, visit our volunteer page here

  • Head Coach: Responsible for managing the team on the field and at practice.  Must be organized and willing to be a positive teacher and role model to the players and the team as a whole.
  • Assistant Coach: Provides support to the Head Coach with teaching the fundamentals of the game, assisting with practice drills, and providing encouragement and instilling confidence in the girls.
  • Score Keeper: Responsible for keeping the official score during games and providing statistics, if asked, to the coaching staff to aid in determining areas requiring additional focus and training.
  • Team Parent: Also called the Team Manager, this position is typically responsible for gathering uniform information, sending parent correspondence, creating the team's snack shack schedule, helping organize the team party, etc....
  • Field Parent: This position is critical to maintaining the beautiful fields we have at Aubrey Park.  This person will help the Field Director by setting up and tearing down the fields before and after games and helping with basic field maintenance before and after practice.  Information on how to maintain the fields will be provided so don't think you need to know everything now!
  • Grounds Crew Committee: This position puts you in a unique position to help us maintain these beautiful fields.  You will be part of a team of volunteers that work with our Field Director to ensure that the required field maintenance is attended to in a timely manner.  This includes sprinkler repair, mowing the outfield grass, dragging the fields, and performing other minor repairs when needed.  We are looking to build a team of 3-4 individuals who can share responsibility to ensure that the fields get the TLC they deserve.
